American Medical Student Association (AMSA)

Your Voice. Your Goals. Your Vision. Your Passion.

Founded in 1950, the American Medical Student Association is the oldest and largest independent association of physicians-in-training in the United States. AMSA is a student-governed, national organization committed to representing the concerns of medical students throughout all levels of training, with an emphasis on improving global health equity, health care access, diversity, and professional integrity and development.

The American Medical Student Association is committed to improving health care and health care delivery to all people; promoting active improvement in medical education; involving its members in the social, moral and ethical obligations of the profession of medicine; assisting in the improvement and understanding of world health problems; contributing to the welfare of medical students, interns, residents and post-MD/DO trainees; and advancing the profession of medicine.

At AMSA, we see a better way forward. We see opportunities to reshape medicine as future physicians. Our vision is a world where health care is accessible, medicine is affordable and systems support the diversity we see around us.

The EVMS chapter of AMSA will support these priorities through cosponsorship of events with other clubs, develop new activities that engage members in community service and advocacy, and enable members to connect and build leadership skills through attendance at regional and national conferences. AMSA-EVMS is also an open resource to provide support for any professional activities students would like to pursue on campus or nationally.
