EVMS strives to be recognized as the most community-oriented medical school in the nation. This is largely a product of our school's founding principles and origins, fostered by cooperation with the individual localities of Hampton Roads.


  Beyond Clinic Walls pairs interdisciplinary student teams with older adults facing complex medical and social challenges.  
  ETOH-D is a student group dedicated to helping people manage their drinking habits to avoid alcohol-related visits to the emergency room.
  Health Outreach Community is a student group dedicated to service with a focus on the homeless population of Norfolk. 
  HOPES is EVMS's student-run free clinic for the underserved population of Norfolk.  
  Infant & Maternal Health Club is a student service-learning group that works with community partners to address infant and maternal health challenges in Norfolk. 
  Lions Club provides vision and health screenings to members of Hampton Roads community.  
Mentoring students at James Monroe Elementary provides EVMS students an opportunity to support local children both academically and socially.
  NEST is a community organization that provides shelter and food for the homeless during the winter months.


  Global Health Coalition is dedicated to making students aware of overseas opportunities within EVMS and the community.
  Haiti HOPES features annual weeklong service trips aimed at executing basic healthcare clinics and public health projects for indigenous populations in central Haiti.
  Operation Smile Club supports a Norfolk-based multinational NGO that has changed thousands of childrens' lives born with cleft lips and palates.
