Updates from Student Affairs

Focus Group for New Student Orientation

·         Did you matriculate in August? Do you have feedback concerning pre-matriculation requirements, the Accepted Student’s Portal, new student orientation or the student events held during Orientation?

·         Student Affairs is looking for both MD and HP representatives for this feedback.

·         Please email Eileen Little if you are interested in this focus group.


1st Annual Pumpkin Carving Contest!! Wednesday, October 29th

·         Hosted by:  Student Affairs Wellness Committee 

·         Open to ALL EVMS Students, Faculty, and Staff!! The pumpkins will then be donated as decoration for Haunted Hallway

·         Entry Deadline: Wednesday, October 29th 9AM

·         Voting Period: 11AM- 2PM coinciding with the Mobile Food Market. Voting will be anonymous.

·         Winners: Announced at Haunted Hallway, Thursday, October 30th!

Haunted Hallway: Thursday, October 30th 5:00-9:00 PM

Refrigerator Clean Out: Friday, October 31st

·         Everything will be cleaned out of the refrigerators in the Student Lounge this Friday.

·         Please take everything home you do not want thrown away.

·         The refrigerators will only be cleaned by Housekeeping once a month.


Therapy Dogs to visit EVMS: Monday, November 3rd 12:00-1:00 PM

·         CHKD therapy dogs will be visiting campus

·         These dogs are a great way to relieve stress, so come out and play with the dogs

Pediatrics Club Lunch Meeting: Wednesday, October 29th 12:00-1:00 PM

·         The goal of the club is to bring in health care professionals in pediatrics, and to discuss the many opportunities within the field to EVMS students.

·         Dr. Amy Price-Neff will be speaking to the FIM club about superfoods.

·         She will touch on the idea of starting a business as a physician.

Halloween POETS: Friday, October 31st 8:00-11:00 PM

·         Light hor d’ourves will be provided

American Red Cross Blood Drive: Monday, November 3rd 10:00 AM- 4:00 PM

·         Almost 20 percent of the millions of donations made each year come from high school and college blood drives.

·         Partnering with the American Red Cross to host a blood drive is a great way to: Rally your school around a cause that saves millions of lives each year!

Weekly Events

Christian Medical and Dental Association (CMDA) Bible Study: Every Monday 12:00- 1:00 PM

·         Join other EVMS students every Monday for a weekly bible study

Mobile Produce Market: Every Wednesday 11:00 AM- 2:00 PM

·         Food is Medicine Mobile Market is on campus every Wednesday, 11am-2pm, and throughout the summer

·         In collaboration with Five Points Community Farm Market, a mobile van with fresh will be on the Townbank Lawn (outside Lester Hall)

·         Cash, credit/debit cards, EBT cards accepted

·         Looking for EVMS student volunteers to sign up for nutrition education on market days, 12-1pm - look out for the sign-up sheet!

·         FIM will also be selling grocery totes ($3)!

EVMS Knitting & Crochet Club: Every Thursday 12:00- 1:00 PM

·         The EVMS Knitting / Crochet club is a no dues casual club. 

·         Don’t know how to knit or crochet?  We’ll teach you!

·         For our beginners we’ve got some knitting needles you can borrow and some scrap yarn you can have!

·         (Eventually beginners you’ll want to bring 100% cotton yarn a crochet hook G / H/ I or if you want to learn to knit size 7 bamboo or wooden knitting needles.  You can knit a dish rag!)

·         Everyone else just bring the project you are working on.  (Forgot your project?  Come anyway!)

·         Lunch is not provided.  If you want to bring your lunch with you please do.
