My Family Photo Project

·         The EVMS HIV/AIDS Resource Center and ACCESS AIDS Care are implementing a stigma-reduction activity.  This project will help to address LGBT related stigma and homophobia/transphobia by showcasing LGBT families, both biological and chosen families, to demonstrate the love and support given by these families to members of the LGBT community.

·         Families will be broadly defined to represent gay families, houses within the ball community, same sex couples, parents or parental figures with their children, etc.  Families will be recruited to participate in the project through social media advertisement, print materials located in community-based organizations, medical clinics, and through The LGBT Center of Hampton Roads.  Promotion of the project will be incorporated into outreach activities.  Social networking strategy will be used to get participants to recruit others within their friendship groups.

·         Families selected to participate will get a photo-shoot and be interviewed around the meaning of “family.”  Photos will be displayed publicly as part of a reception that will be advertised through social media and print materials. Select photos will be used as part of a media campaign to coincide with the reception.

·         Question: Please send them to Tanya Kearney
